Every family has what we call in the UK, an ‘Uncle Nobhead’. We all have that one relative who, for whatever reason, is A LOT. It might be their penchant for illicit substances, their extensive criminal record or their abrasive personality, but if you have an Uncle (or even an Auntie) Nobhead, you’ll probably be picturing them right now.

Self-confessed Herder of Cats, Julia Abbott, has created a podcast series all about a chaotic family who have been unfortunately blessed with more than their fair share of Uncle Nobheads and a healthy helping of chaos to boot.

From absent parents and alcohol abuse, to home education, credit card fraud and a close relationship with the local constabulary, Herding Cats is, surprisingly, not trauma porn.

Set in Northern England, the series is part autobiography, part observational comedy, that aims to entertain and be a safe space for people in chaotic families of their own (even though we both know it’s not a safe space you need but a stiff drink, some prescription medication and a dark room, and preferably all three at once). Herding Cats launches on 31st July 2026 on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
